Quilt Guild Meeting

New Traditions Quilt Guild held its first meeting in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church, Marion, Virginia, on March 29, 2004. There were 15 people present.
The Guild was formed to promote the art of quilting and quilt making by offering workshops, lectures, and exhibitions to member. It provides a source of inspiration and fellowship for quilt enthusiasts. membership is open to all persons with an interest in quilts an quilting.
Since the initial meeting in 2004, guild members have shared “show (sew) and tell,” and promoted programs and training for quilters of all skill levels. Many of the guild’s skilled members have provided training, trunk shows, and motivation to participants. In addition, outside trainers have ben utilized for educational quilting programs and classes. Guild members have participated in making quilts and blankets for Project Linus and for several local agencies.
Over time, the guild’s membership has increased to approximately 50 members, and many of the groups original members continue to be actively involved.
Many members get together on Mondays at The Henderson from 10am – 2pm with the exception of the last Monday of the month when the Guild meets at The Methodist Church.
