The Burke Print Shop is dedicated to preserving the history and craft of letterpress printing. This shop provides a resource for designers, artists, and craftsman, and also a significant learning resource for students of all ages. There is a revival in the interest of book arts, letterpress, paper making, paper marbling, and calligraphy and we are proud to be part.
Attend a workshop in The Burke Print Shop to learn about the history of moveable type, wood and metal type, basic design layout, various printing presses and ultimately printing your own letterpress piece. The workshop is designed for all skill levels and cost $55 with all materials provided.
Learning “Shop Etiquette” and learning your way around the shop will allow you access to The Burke Print Shop @ The Henderson. Contact The Henderson to reserve time in the shop and explore this wonderful process at your own pace. Open Letterpress is always on Sunday’s from 1-5pm AND you can reserve time according to your own schedule, during the week if Sunday is not convenient.
Shop rental is $45 and covers all your materials. We ask that you leave a couple samples of your creation for our collection.
Our Letterpress Workshops allow you to learn the history of Letterpress along with different styles and techniques used to create posters, postcards, and invitations. Those who attend will have the opportunity to custom print their own limited edition series of prints using wood type and vintage stock images.
